Da Shi Villa

The design goal is to create a dynamic space for the Sherman’s family that accommodate all of their needs as two generations living under one roof. The design concept was inspired by four factors; Japanese traditional architecture, our client, integration with nature and the power of geometric forms to convey symbolic meanings. First, Japanese traditional architecture influenced our design in many ways, for example the hierarchy of space and function from lower to upper levels, more attention to privacy. Second, our client (The Sherman’s family) and all of their needs as individuals and as a family. Third, integration with nature and the site the house is going to be built in which has a beautiful lake view to create a relaxing environment for the Sherman’s. Last, the power of geometric forms and materials to convey some symbolic meaning within the design by using contrasted materials on adjacent to emphasize the duality of the power and nobility of the Samurai in Japanese culture. As having two generations living under one roof the house will be divided into two volumes each has its own identity.
